You Can’t Ask…

You can’t ask
A blooming rose
To cease its growth
You can’t ask
The morning sun
To hide its glow
You can’t ask
The soft sea breeze
It cannot blow
You can’t ask
My bleeding heart
It cannot flow

You can’t ask
A surging river
To change its course
You can’t ask
The angry ocean
To grip its force
You can’t ask
The burdened clouds
To keep its source
You can’t ask
My tired eyes
To hold remorse

You can’t ask
A waterfall
To rest midway
You can’t ask
A hungry lion
To free its prey
You can’t ask
A running horse
To kindly stay
You can’t ask
My unruly thoughts
They keep at bay

You can’t ask
The dark of night
To turn to light
You can’t ask
The shade of black
To pose as white
You can’t ask
Cold winter blights
For warmth so bright
You can’t ask
My wounded soul
Stay out of sight

Depression

She sighs
At the threshold of darkness
Taking sips of cold sadness
Looking for the lost warmth of gladness

She cries
For a lost tomorrow
Heart heavy with sorrow
Hiding beneath the depths of a shadow

She slides
Into the limitless pits of despair
Wings of courage torn beyond repair
Whispering a final breath of prayer

She dies
Defeated in a battle with depression
Heart shattered to a million fragments
Taking the hand of sweet cessation

Absence

Sitting on a bed all empty and cold
A thousand recollections vaguely unfold
In a deafening silence feeling so alone
I count the hours till you come home

Birds they chant it is early morn
Another day hath come to scorn
I open my eyes something feels so wrong
I yearn for your laughter sweet and warm

At purple dusk dark shadows they seep
Unto my solitary wakeful retreat
Slumped in a corner so urging to weep
Eyes tightly closed I strive to sleep

How do I cope oh what do I do?
When you’re away I’m sad all blue
Believe me love its nothing but true
My world is in ruins if not for you!
